We’ve fished Lake Okeechobee a few times over the last month and have caught some decent fish. With the Florida Everglades being red hot it’s hard to leave the Ft. Lauderdale and drive 60 miles when you have bass fishing factory in your back yard. Lake Okeechobee is a little more challenging because of it’s pure size but on average you’ll catch larger bass on the Okeechobee. We boated about 20 today with one large fish braking me off flipping in heavy vegetation. To catch trophy fish with any consistency on Lake Okeechobee I recommend wild live shiners caught out of the lake.
